Do It Right Citizen Activism to Save the City of Aiken

You can help protect, protect, preserve and improve the historical City of Aiken.  Local government, nonelected officials, and developers have put forth  various massive projects that could involve destruction of a major portion of downtown Aiken and construction of massive inauthentic structures to include retail spaces, apartments, motel, convention center and parking garage.  It would erase much of downtown along with its history.  Estimates for COST COULD BE MORE THAN $100 MILLION with uncertain return on investment for taxpayers and no certainty of occupancy when development is complete.  Such projects are inappropriate in size, expense and damage to the authenticity of Aiken.  In the event of financial failure taxpayer will bear the burden, not politicians and developers.  YOU CAN TAKE DIRECT ACTION TO STOP DEMOLITION IN DOWNTOWN AIKEN AND PRESERVE HISTORICAL BUILDINGS AND UNIQUE CULTURE.  YOU CAN HELP PREVENT EXPENSIVE AND INNAPPROPRIATE DEVELOPMENT BY GOVERNMENT AND DEVELOPERS.    Please sign the PETITION in person at one of these locations.  You must be registered to vote in the City of Aiken
